Orange Coffee is a multi-Grammy nominated star on the rise who has truly made a name for herself in this crazy business of entertainment, but if your unsure why you might not know of her name then Kat Rodriguez will definitely ring a bell. The NYC native born & raised in Brooklyn is no stranger to music, but her journey with it started long before she ever graced a stage. The triple threat Afro Latina was immersed into the world of music growing up in Brooklyn listening to her father play so many different genres including Salsa, Jazz and R&B which was just a way of everyday life for her. Now of course as a kid in the 80s & 90s the emerging sound of r&b played a heavy influence in her life as she studied some of music’s finest including Mary J Blige, Lauryn Hill & Erykah Badu along with the legendary greats like Nancy Wilson and Ella Fitzgerald. Now It should be as no surprise as to why Orange Coffee’s soulful rich and raspy tone has that same touch with her music as these soulful leading ladies who put their all into their timeless music. Now let’s be clear she’s not only a singer but highly sought out and incomparable musician who has blazed a trail as a saxophone player but her journey actually started out with her learning how to play a clarinet who father bought her at the age of 10. She would ultimately go on to learn how to play it and the Saxophone with the help of her teachers in middle school which prepared her for a life changing audition to attend LaGuardia High School aka The FAME School.

It was there where a young Kat fully blossomed as an overall artist nurturing her many talents while being surrounded by so many other gifted peers who were able to truly themselves as artist in their own right. Her experiences there truly changed her life as she would go on to study at The New School as a highly trained and accomplished classically trained musician. Now one would think after attending these prestigious institutions and starting a family things could become very overwhelming, but a huge opportunity would shortly change her life as she knew it. In 2006 Miss Orange Coffee landed herself an audition for the iconic Beyoncé who was on a worldwide search for an all star female band and let’s just say within weeks her world changed completely after a call from music & creative director Kim Burse. The triple threat would go on to perform around the world on numerous tours, tv shows, Award shows and more with the iconic superstar which also led to her recording with her over the years which garnered numerous Grammy nominations. Within time she would go on to work with so many artist on and off the stage including Destiny’s Child, Jay-Z, Mary J Blige, George Michael, Tina Turner, Kelly Clarkson, Dixie Chicks, Jazmine Sullivan, Nicki Minaj, Brandy, Monica, HER, Ledisi, Jill Scott, 50 Cent, Ari Lennox, Keyshia Cole, Sevyn Streeter, Marsha Ambrosius and more. But with the resume of a musicians dreams, she still wanted to work on her own music and finally pursue her other passion which was singing.

Over the years Orange Coffee would perform at events as a solo artist but would continuously put her solo career on hold for other opportunities as a supporting act. Well thankfully as she has decided to stop touring and focus on other personal endeavors, she finally decided to put herself first and focus on her long awaited debut album. This summer she released the buzz worthy single ‘Home‘ produced by her son Keyon Jr aka Key Minor which slowly has been in heavy rotation, but now it’s time to give her growing fan base another taste of what’s to come from her upcoming self titled project. Her latest single ‘Nobody Sweeter‘ is just what r&b music has been missing. The soulful track produced by Keyon Harrold just feels good and hearing Orange Coffee’s raspy soul stirring voice on it automatically makes you want to put in on repeat. Check out her new single which is just the warm up for so much more to come from her highly anticipated debut set to be released next March.
