Yesterday i had the pleasure of attending a special press luncheon at the infamous Akwaaba House in Brooklyn, NY to talk with the owner Monique Greenwood. The self made entrepreneur has teamed up with OWN TV for a new series ‘Checked Inn’ which follows Monique and her team which includes her husband Glenn , daughter Glynn and her director of operations Melody . The new series follows the Bed & Breakfast queen who has mastered the art of luxury accommodations with 4 different locations in Brooklyn, NY , Cape May NJ, Washington DC & the Poconos,PA. We were delighted to take a tour of the mini mansion which is filled with 4 beautiful bedrooms with a gorgeous layout of amenities including fireplaces , Jacuzzi’s , library & more. I has the pleasure of attending the mansion located in Bedstuy for a wedding & baby shower but this was the first time i was able to take a tour of the whole place. We were the treated to a special lunch as we sat and talked with Monique, Glenn & Glynn about their new series and the bed & breakfast lifestyle.
The self made mogul who was once the editor in chief at Essence Magazine talked with us about why she decided to team up with OWN for a reality series, why passing down a legacy to her family is important for generational wealth , the importance of taking time to enjoy the fruits of your own labor & so much more. Now with celebrity guest like Taraji P Henson , Anthony Anderson , Kerry Washington , Peabo Bryson & more on their list of clientele its clear that there is simply no other place to be. Watch our exclusive footage from inside the Akwabba mansion as Monique and her family drops so many gems , it was only right that i had to share it with my readers.
