This past weekend the Shaping Futures Foundation hosted their inaugural gala in Ashburn Virgina. The special event held at the Exclusive Automotive Group for Aston Martin Bentley was packed with some of the DMV’s most elite and distinguished guest who all came out to help raise funds for the Foundation’s mission to build an all-girls school in Zanzibar, Tanzania. The Foundation’s CEO Cordell Robinson also known as the Culinary Diva made sure his guest were treated to the finest of cuisine prepared by the chef himself. Some of the notable guest in attendance on Saturday night included Angela Kinney (C.O. of the Library of Congress), Robert Edwards Jr. (Hamilton Clark Sustainable Capital), Dewayne Queen (President, EQUAL Delta Airlines LGBTQ Employee/Business Resource Group), Exclusive Automotive Group Executives, Jason Issacs (CEO of Open Up Resources), and South African Fashion Designer David Tlale.

Now of course putting together an event like this takes a village and Cordell most definitely had the best of the best on his team. His committee member Olympic Gold Medalist track star turned reality tv diva Sanya Richards Ross was in attendance to help kick off the event alongside fellow members. Entrepreneur/Entertainment Mogul Debra Antney, CEO Lucky Church, CEO Jonathan Metcalfe, CEO Elliot Carlyle and Casandra Diggs the President, Counsel of Fashion Designers of America who round out his host committee were all in attendance to make this Gala the success it was. The silent auction truly helped to take the gala to the next level with some of the finest items up for bid including Aston Martin and Bentley car rentals, fashion consultation with fashion icon Ty Hunter (Destiny’s Child, Beyonce & Billy Porter), a business coaching package from David Meltzer (Co-Founder, Sports 1 Marketing), designer handbags provided by Tom Ford and Dolce & Gabbana and more.

As guest continued to celebrate with Cordell and his committee they couldn’t help but rave about the delicious menu as they couldn’t get enough of his Jerk Lamb Chops, Marinated Chilean sea bass with caviar, and Jollof rice arancini. Now although his gift in the kitchen as the culinary diva is where he thrives, his passion for giving back is truly what his heart desires. “Being able to give back to Africa and make a positive impact on the lives of these young girls is what drives me,” said Cordell Robinson. “I believe that we all have a responsibility to do our part to make this world a better place, and I am grateful to everyone who came out to support our cause.” As the night came to a close, it was clear that this was only the beginning of so much more to come from Cordell and his committee this year as they continue to do the work and help shaping a brighter future for young girls in Tanzania.
