Last night was truly one for the books as Power 105.1 once again shut down the Prudential Center for this years Powerhouse concert. The must see sold out show was jam packed with fans who were lined up around the building since 6pm , ready for one of the tri-state area’s biggest night in music. The show kicked off with NJ native and rising star BandManRill who definitely got the crowd warmed up with his set. Up next was Power 105.1 own DJ SpinKing who clearly was ready to heat things up with his special set which included surprise performances from Diaper’s own Juelz Santana, Dancehall legend Mr Vegas, Brooklyn breakout star B Love and rising star J.I. Now clearly that was just the warm up as rap star MoneyBagg Yo was next to hit the stage. The Memphis emcee hit the stage with band & dancers in tow as he cranked out some of his fan favorite hits including ‘Time Today’ & ‘Wockesha’.

As fans were just getting settled in for one hell of a nite, the building got a little bit hotter as rap star Lil Tjay made his return to the big stage after overcoming his life threatening injuries after being shot at this summer during an attempted robbery in New Jersey. His fans screamed from beginning to end as they sang along to his growing number of hits which have been in heavy rotation. Now finally the energy shifted just a bit in the building as sultry r&b singer Tems hit the stage to turns things up just a north with her scorching vocals. The Nigerian diva kept the crowd in a frenzy as she sang her heart performing some of her hits like ‘Essence’, ‘Wait For You’, ‘Higher’ and ‘Free Mind’ which had everyone in a chokehold. To top it off Angela Yee and her label RCA presented Tems with a special Gold certification plaque for her #1 hit which was clearly the icing on the cake for the night. Now if that wasn’t enough, Brooklyn owns rap star Fivio Foreign shook up the building as he took over the stage to perform his anthems ‘City Of Gods’, ‘What’s My Name’ and ‘Big Drip’ among other records along with a surprise performance from Capella Grey who tore down the stage with his hit single ‘Gyalis‘.

If you were in the building last night, then you felt the energy just go up another notch in the room after that performance. But the show was far from over, because up next was rap star Kodak Black who completely showed out as he ran through his hits back to back which kept the crowd hyped as they waited for the nights headliner to close things out. Power 105.1 once again new to save the best for last with Rap Queen Nicki Minaj as she took over Powerhouse the moment she hit the stage. For the next 40 minutes the audience lost their mind as the global superstar commanded their attention from the first song of her set to the last. As she cranked out hit after hit with help from special guest Fivio Foreign and 2 Chainz, the only issue with her set was that it wasn’t longer. As fans loudly sang along to every word and even joined her on stage for a special moment during her performance of her #1 hit ‘Super Freaky Girl’, it was obvious why Nicki continues to dominates the rap game. As she closed out her explosive set with fans breaking their neck to get one more final glimpse of the triple threat, we seriously couldn’t see how Power 105.1 could top this next year. This years Powerhouse was truly one for the books and if you weren’t there, I know after this recap you will surely be in the building for the next one. Special thanks to IHeart & Power 105.1 for their accommodations, I can’t wait to do it all over again next year.
