Rising star Oktum is finally gearing up to release his long awaited debut project ‘Tales of Sunset‘ which is truly been a labor of love. The Haitian born producer grew up in a house filled with music as he watched his father Serge Rosenthal shine as a musician playing guitar with the band Les Shleu Shleu. At an early age it was clear that he had a passion for music listening to his father’s music as well as other genres but some of his biggest musical inspirations ranged from Bob Marley, Franz Schubert, Frédéric Chopin, Dr.Dre and Thievery Corporation. As a teenager a friend of his introduced him to FL Studio and sparked a flame as he began to follow in his father’s footsteps as a composer.

Music production was a great escape for Oktum, while dealing with growing pains in Haiti surrounded by a lot of crime. Now although he had no formal training in production, he eventually learned how to make his own music drawing from inspiration around him. Within in no time he became great at but he knew he had to leave him for better opportunities which led to him moving to Illinois with family before landing in New York City. Now although NYC was the birthplace of some of his musical influences including Biggie Smalls & 2pac , one would think that he would be inspired to create some of his best work there but sadly that wasn’t the case. After putting a lot of money into his dream buying equipment and all, it was clear that his passion for music wasn’t what it used to be. It would be a long 10yrs before he got the urge to create music again.

Moving across the country to Los Angeles seemed to be a fresh new start for Oktum, and with new beginnings on the horizon came a new wave of inspiration for him to create music again in 2019. Just as he was getting back into the swing of things, the world came to a complete a standstill in 2020 due to the Corona virus pandemic, but little did he know that this would truly became a blessing in disguise. Quarantine provided the free time for him to develop his sound of deep house even more and tap into his own original music which ultimately allowed him to create what would be the beginning of his highly anticipated debut. Within no time he turned out some of his best music to date which has now led to him releasing his first project ‘Tales Of A Sunset‘ which is just the first release in a series of EPs to come later this year. Listen to & download the 5 track compilation which is sure to be in heavy rotation on the dance floor.
