Last night we had the pleasure of stopping by the legendary SOBs in NYC to see singer/songwriter Kevin Ross. The D.C. Native rolled into town on his “Awakening Tour” in support of his long awaited debut album which was released on Motown Records. The soulful powerhouse put on one hell of a show as he hit the stage to perform some of his fan favorite hits for the intimate crowd who soaked in every note as he effortlessly sang his heart out. The Berkley College Of Music graduate proved how much he has studied the greats as he paid tribute to some of his favorite artist during his set with flawless covers of Donny Hathaway ,Stevie Wonder & Michael Jackson classics or rocked out to some 90’s hits from R.Kelly , Brandy , SWV . Tevin Campbell , Jodeci , Prince & more while the crowd sang right along. Last night what we witnessed was a true star on the rise who commanded the stage from the beginning to end even as he hopped on the stage and gave an encore performance of his hit single ‘Long Song Away’ on top of the counter at the bar before closing it out on stage. Kevin has truly proven that this is his time in the spotlight and even after being in the business for a few years its clear that he’s only just getting started. Make sure to catch him on tour if it hasn’t hit your city yet but if you missed out, check out footage from last nights show exclusively here.
