Last night we had the honor of attending superstar rapper/actor Yasiin Bey aka Mos Def sold out concert at the world famous Apollo Theater. The prolific rap star took the stage after announcing that he would be retiring from entertainment with these last 4 concerts to close out the year along with 3 new albums. The Brooklyn, NY native took over the stage at the historic venue as he captivated the crowd for over 90 minutes as he performed some new songs off of two of his albums just as one of them “December99” were released earlier in the day. Now of course through out his set he mentioned that he was nervous hitting the stave but without any real set list or practiced he owned the stage like he never left it. The charismatic performer controlled the crowd whenever he wanted to have a sentimental moment as he spoke about his love for the fans who appreciate his gift but why it was now time for him to move on from entertaining the masses.

Now although reality would soon set in that he wont be releasing more music or performing anymore , last night was a time to celebrate with him as he gave his fans everything they wanted and more. The MC not only performed never before heard records but he had to rock many of his classic hits which had the crowd going crazy and if that wasn’t enough he even had help from friends like Slick Rick & Pharaohe Monch. Now unfortunately if you didn’t attend the show last night then you weren’t able to witness greatness but luckily we got tons of footage from the epic event which will definitely go down in history.
